THE FINE PRINT
Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
belpire.com is the website of the Belpire Carnival, a community for multiplayer horror and party games that lives on Discord. This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit the site. The short version: you can browse without signing in, we don't track you, and we don't sell or share data. The only thing that needs a sign-in is our Discord invite.
What we collect
Browsing needs nothing from you. The site has no accounts, sign-up forms, comments or newsletters, and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
"Verify with Discord" for the invite. To keep bots out, our Discord invite is shown on the box office page only after you sign in with Discord. When you do:
- Discord asks you to share your username and email. We ask for the email permission only because that's how Discord tells us whether your account is verified. We read the "verified" flag and never store or log your email address.
- We never see your Discord password, and we give up the access Discord granted us right after the check.
- If your account is verified, we set one cookie (
__Host-belpire_session) so you don't have to sign in again for 30 days. It's encrypted and holds only your Discord user ID, display name and the times it was issued and expires. It isn't used for tracking or shared with anyone. - During sign-in a second short-lived cookie (
__Host-belpire_oauth, up to 10 minutes) protects the login from forgery. - Sign out on the box office page deletes the cookie. You can also remove the Belpire app any time in Discord under User Settings › Authorized Apps.
We keep no list of who signed in. The cookie lives only in your browser.
Game-night polls in The Big Tent. If you vote in a poll on the Big Tent page:
- Our Discord bot checks whether you're a member of the Belpire server and which roles you hold, so we know you can vote (and whether you can run polls). We don't store that answer beyond a couple of minutes.
- We store your Discord user ID, display name and ranked picks for that poll in our database (Cloudflare D1), so you can change your vote and so each member votes once. Other signed-in members of the server can see that you voted (your display name, and whether you used the Wheel of Doom), but never what you picked. Ballots are deleted automatically 90 days after the poll opened.
- Results posted to the site and to our Discord server show totals only, never who voted for what. The name of the person who opened or scheduled a poll is shown with it.
Hall of Oddities uploads. Members of our Discord server can add screenshots and clips to the Hall of Oddities and react to them. If you do:
- We store the file (in Cloudflare R2), your caption, your Discord user ID and display name and the time, in our database (Cloudflare D1). Your display name is shown publicly with the upload; your user ID is not.
- Before storing a picture we remove its hidden metadata, such as camera details and GPS location. Clips are stored as uploaded, so check yours doesn't show anything private.
- Pictures are checked by an automated safety scan (Cloudflare Workers AI) that looks only at the picture. Clips, and anything the scan isn't sure about, are reviewed by a Ringleader (RingMaster, RingMistress, Carnival Guard or Fortune Teller) before they're shown.
- "Take a screenshot" uses your browser's screen-sharing prompt. Nothing is captured until you pick a screen, window or tab, only one still frame is taken, and it stays on your device unless you upload it.
- When you react (Like, Laugh, Scream and so on), we store your Discord user ID and the reaction so you can take it back. Only the totals are shown publicly.
- Uploads stay up until you or a Ringleader removes them. Removing one deletes the file and its reactions. If another member reports an upload, we record that they reported it so the same person can't report it twice.
Game Night passes. If you ask for a Game Night pass (on The Big Tent, or by answering Yes during Discord onboarding), we store your Discord user ID, display name, how you asked, and the outcome (and a reason if a Ringleader gives one), so the Ringleaders can review it and you don't get asked twice. Our bot posts a short note about the request in a staff channel, and may send you a direct message with the result.
Tickets and the Prize Booth. Members of the Belpire Discord can earn and spend tickets on this site and with our bot's slash commands in Discord. For this we store:
- Your Discord user ID, display name, ticket balance and a record of each ticket you earn or spend (what it was for and when), so your balance is correct in both places and the Ringleaders can fix mistakes.
- If you check in to a game night, we store that you checked in, and while the show is on our bot checks every 10 minutes whether you're still in The Main Stage voice channel (and not deafened) to pay attendance tickets. We only check people who checked in, never anyone else, and check-ins are deleted after 3 days.
- Prize Booth orders: the prize, any note you add, and whether a Ringleader completed or refunded it. The bot posts a short note about each order in a staff channel and may send you a direct message about it.
- The Midway High Scores show your display name and the tickets you've won to other signed-in members, and our bot posts the board (that week's top earners and the all-time leaders) in the server's announcements channel every Sunday. You can hide yourself from the board, and from those posts, at any time on Your Ticket Booth page.
- When you use one of our slash commands, Discord sends us the command along with your Discord user ID, display name and server roles. We use them to answer and don't keep anything beyond the ticket records above.
- We don't read your Discord messages, and we don't track your activity in Discord beyond the check-ins described above. Ticket records are kept while the ticket booth runs; ask us and we'll delete yours.
Staff messages. Ringleaders can leave each other messages on the staff-only Backstage page. We store the author's Discord user ID, display name, the message and when it was sent, and our bot posts a copy in a staff-only Discord channel. Staff messages are deleted after 90 days, or sooner if the author deletes them.
Technical data needed to run a website. When your browser requests a page, the services below necessarily receive standard request information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We don't combine this with anything else or use it to identify you.
Services that handle requests
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores Hall of Oddities uploads and runs their safety scan, and protects the site from attacks. It processes request data to deliver pages and keep the site secure. Our server code keeps short-lived error and activity logs through Cloudflare, retained only for Cloudflare's standard short period, so we can fix problems. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Steam (Valve) serves the game artwork shown on the homepage, so your browser loads those images from Steam's servers. See Valve's privacy policy.
- Discord handles "Verify with Discord" if you choose to use it: you sign in on Discord's own site, and Discord shares the details above with us. When a RingMaster, RingMistress, Carnival Guard or Fortune Teller is streaming in our Main Stage voice channel, the site shows their display name in a "Live" banner; this is about them, not you. Our bot also reads server membership and roles for polls and Hall of Oddities uploads, and posts poll results and game-night events to our server. See Discord's privacy policy.
- GitHub hosts the site's source code, which is public. Visiting belpire.com doesn't send anything to GitHub.
Game news, Star Citizen server status and tool versions are fetched by our server from Steam, Roberts Space Industries and GitHub. Those requests come from the site, not from your browser, and contain no information about you.
Links to other sites
The site links to Discord, Steam, Roberts Space Industries and community tools. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. Signing in with Discord and joining our Discord server are also covered by Discord's privacy policy and our server rules.
Children
The site isn't directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone. Our Discord community follows Discord's own minimum age requirements.
Your choices and rights
The sign-in cookie lives only in your browser; signing out or clearing cookies deletes it. The personal information we keep is described above: poll ballots (up to 90 days), Hall of Oddities uploads and reactions (until removed), Game Night pass requests, your tickets and Prize Booth orders, and Ringleaders' staff messages (up to 90 days). Ask us and we'll delete yours sooner. If you think we hold something about you, or you have a question about privacy, contact us and we'll help. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or US state privacy laws; we'll honor them.
Changes
If the site starts collecting anything new, we'll update this page before that feature goes live and change the date at the top.
